August 1, 2025 Construction Update

Between July 21 – August 1, sediment loading and transport off-site occurred, with police details on-site as needed to temporarily direct traffic on Wahconah Street to facilitate trucks entering and exiting the site. Sediment is currently being transported off-site to a New York state landfill. In addition, excavation and preparation of the main water by-pass channel on the eastern side of the impoundment site began and continued through this time period. 

For the week of August 4 – 8, excavation of the eastern the water by-pass channel is expected to continue, followed by installation of a polyethylene liner in the channel and construction of a cofferdam at the upstream end of the by-pass channel to direct water into the channel. Loading and off-site transport of sediment off-site will continue, with periodic truck traffic entering and leaving the site.
